Legal
Privacy Policy
SimBusiness is a game. It is a business simulation provided for entertainment only — not professional business, legal, financial, accounting, tax, or investment advice. Please also read our Terms of Use.
This Privacy Policy explains how SimBusiness ("SimBusiness," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, retains, shares, and protects information in connection with the SimBusiness game application (the "Game") and this marketing website at sim-business.net (together, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to this Policy.
1. Who this applies to and minimum age
The Services are intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users aged 13 to 17 may use the Services; if you are under the age of majority where you live, you should use the Services only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. When you sign up we use Google Firebase Authentication. Depending on how you sign in, this includes your email address and, where you provide them, a username and profile description.
- Content you create while playing. Everything you enter or generate in the Game — business designs, prompts, free-text inputs, decisions, names, and the resulting turn data and narratives ("Player Content").
- Payments. If you purchase tokens, payment is handled by a third-party payment processor. We receive transaction records but do not store your full payment-card numbers.
- Communications. Information you send us when you contact support or make a request.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data. Such as pages and game screens viewed, actions taken while playing (for example creating a company or running a turn), approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, and timestamps.
- Cookies and analytics. See Section 7.
3. How we use your information
- To operate, maintain, and provide the Services, including running AI-powered game turns.
- To create and secure your account and process token purchases.
- To analyze usage and improve the Game, including game analytics and metrics.
- To communicate with you about the Services and respond to your requests.
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms of Use.
- To train machine-learning models. See Section 4.
4. AI processing and model training
AI subprocessor. The Game uses artificial intelligence to generate gameplay (employee behavior, events, and narrative turn reports). To do this, your inputs and Player Content are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, and processed by its Claude models. Content sent to Anthropic through the Claude API is not used by Anthropic to train its models by default.
Training SimBusiness models. Separately and distinctly from the above, SimBusiness may use your Player Content to train, fine-tune, develop, and improve machine-learning models — our own and/or those of others. This is an intended use of the Game. This training use does not include your username or your profile description information, which we exclude. By using the Game you acknowledge and agree to this use.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described here:
- Service providers / subprocessors, who process data on our behalf, including Google (Firebase authentication, hosting, cloud infrastructure and data storage, and Google Analytics for both this website and the Game), Anthropic (AI processing), and our payment processor.
- Legal and safety, where we believe disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Services.
- Business transfers, in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
6. Data retention, deletion, and erasure
Indefinite retention. We retain your account information and Player Content for as long as your account exists and, by default, indefinitely thereafter, so that the data remains available for game analytics and model training as described above, unless a shorter period is required by law.
Gameplay event records. The gameplay records described in Section 7 first land in our operational server logs, which expire automatically after about 30 days. Before they expire, we copy them into our own analytics database, where they are retained indefinitely on the same basis as above. Data held by Google Analytics is retained according to that service's own retention setting, which is controlled in the Google Analytics product rather than by us.
Soft delete. A normal "delete" action inside the Game is a soft delete. It removes the item from your view but does not permanently erase the underlying data, which we retain for analytics.
Permanent erasure on request. If you want your personal data permanently erased, you may request it from the SimBusiness administrator at the contact address in Section 12, and we will erase it to the extent we are able and not otherwise required to retain it by law.
7. Cookies and analytics
This marketing website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies and collects usage data to help us understand site traffic.
The Game application uses storage that is strictly necessary to keep you signed in (Firebase Authentication). The sign-in process may set cookies controlled by Google. The Game also uses Google Analytics, under its own separate Google Analytics property from the one used by this website.
What the Game sends to Google Analytics:
- Screen views. Which screen of the Game you are on. Addresses are simplified before they are sent, so we record that you viewed a company dashboard, not which company — no company identifier is sent in any field.
- A short, fixed list of milestone events that tell us how far people get: completing sign-up, opening the company builder, creating a company, running a turn, reaching the out-of-tokens screen, and clicking to buy or redeem tokens. Each carries at most a small label such as the sign-in method used, the business category chosen, the turn number, or which button was clicked.
- Nothing that identifies you or that you wrote. We do not send your account identifier, email address, display name, company name, business description, turn report text, or any other free text you enter. There is no general click or keystroke tracking.
As it does for any site or app, Google Analytics also collects the information Google collects itself — an approximate location derived from your IP address, browser and device information, and its own cookie identifier.
Opting out of Google Analytics. The Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on applies to both this website and the Game application, as do browser or extension settings that block analytics scripts. Blocking analytics does not affect your ability to play. You can learn more from Google's Privacy Policy.
Gameplay records we keep ourselves. Separately from Google Analytics, our servers record a small set of gameplay events — signing in, creating a company, running a turn, hiring an employee, and purchasing tokens — so we can measure how the Game is used over time. These records use an internal account identifier rather than your name or email, and they are not combined with the Google Analytics data described above. They do include the name you give a company, so please avoid putting personal information in company names. They are covered by the retention terms in Section 6, and blocking analytics in your browser does not stop them. See also Sections 2, 3, and 6.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, to object to certain uses, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, including permanent erasure, contact us using Section 12. We will respond as required by applicable law. You may also opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in those emails.
9. International users and data transfers
SimBusiness is operated from the United States, and your information will be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data-protection laws different from those in your country. The Services are offered globally; if you use them, you consent to this transfer and processing.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Governing law
This Policy and any dispute relating to it are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Offering the Services in other regions does not waive data-protection rights you may have under your local law.
12. Contact us
For privacy questions, data requests, or permanent-erasure requests, contact the SimBusiness administrator at simdata@ryanmcnair.com.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
